Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada) rises to about 2,243 m and is famed for the “sacred footprint” rock
near the summit, revered by Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, and Muslims alike.
Historically, it has been a pilgrimage site for over a thousand years.
The mountain lies in the central highlands, near the village Nallathanniya (Dalhousie),
which serves as the primary trailhead.
The pilgrimage season runs from December to May, when the trail is open
and conditions are safer.
Outside this period, the route may be closed due to rains and maintenance.
Beyond the sacred peak, visitors can enjoy scenic trails, lush tea estates, and waterfalls in the surrounding region.
